Trzeba spojrzeć na film Telefon przez te wszystkie przeciwieństwa do 1984. Jeszcze dwa. Pierwsze: spowiedź Winstona w 1984 jest nieprawdziwa, paniczna. On oczarniał wszystkich o wszystko, po prostu o cokolwiek mu przyszło do głowy byle by tylko zadowolić tego, kto go torturował. Spowiedź Stu jest zupełnie inna, prawdziwa. Stu przeczuwał, że ta spowiedź go nie uratuje. "Nie zrobiłem tego dla ciebie" - mówi torturującemu. Drugie przeciwieństwo: W filmie Telefon to torturujący podpowiada Stu, by zrzucił karę na kogoś innego. Podpuszcza, próbuje, ma to swój hiobowy wyraz. Natomiast w książce Orwella torturujący wcale nie podpowiada Winstonowi jak ma się uratować. W decydującym momencie to Winston sam dochodzi do tego wniosku: "Jednakże wydobył się z mroku, unosząc ze sobą zbawienną myśl. Był to jeden, jedyny sposób ratunku. Musi odgrodzić się od szczurów ciałem innego człowieka." A w chwilę później kontynuacja tej myśli: "I wówczas - nie, nie była to ulga, lecz nadzieja, zaledwie iskierka nadziei. (...) Ale nagle zrozumiał, że na całym świecie istnieje tylko jedna osoba, na którą może przenieść tę straszliwą torturę - jedno ciało, którym może się zasłonić przed szczurami. I zaczął wrzeszczeć jak opętany, powtarzając w kółko:
- Zróbcie to Julii! Julii! Nie mnie! Julii! Nie obchodzi mnie, co się z nią stanie. Niech jej zeżrą twarz, obgryzą aż do kości. Nie mnie! Julii! Nie mnie!"

Jak można mówić o Bogu takim językiem jaki jest w tym filmie? I co z Bogiem ma wspólnego wizja Stalinizmu w "1984"?

Szczerze powiedziawszy sam zadałem te pytania, by sam sobie odpowiedzieć... Gdy mówimy o Bogu innym ludziom to się to nazywa "ewangelizowanie". Ewangelizujemy językiem kulturalnym, niecodziennym, a dla wielu ludzi - językiem obcym. Kiedy jednak Bóg mówi o sobie do nas to jest to "mistyka". Bóg nie mówi do nas językiem sztucznym. On przemawia do nas językiem takim, jakim my normalnie mówimy czyli pełnym "fucków". Autentyczność bohatera "Telefonu" jest wielką siłą tego filmu.
Któż z nas nigdy nie zadał sobie pytania w stylu: "gdzie do diałba jest Bóg?", na przykład gdzie był Bóg w Oświęcimiu? Czy książka Orwella też nie jest postawieniem takiego pytania? Naprawdę warto zestawić obok siebie te dwa dzieła, by poszukać odpowiedzi na pytanie: gdzie do czynienia mamy z autentycznym Bogiem, a gdzie z fałszywym, z Big Brotherem. W książce Winston i Julia zostali oboje zaaresztowani i torturowani, a w "Telefonie" tylko Stu. Wszyscy jesteśmy grzeszni, ale Bóg zawsze traktuje nas indywidualnie, a po drugie to, co wydaje się bożą torturą jest zawsze w końcu procesem wzrostu, procesem przemiany duchowej i psychicznej. Dla wielu ludzi spowiadanie się jest tylko właśnie kościelną "torturą", bo nie doświadczyli oni owoców duchowego wzrostu. Tak było i w moim wypadku przez większość mojego życia do czasu jednej wyjątkowej spowiedzi, która to zmieniła.
A przy okazji. W scenie aresztowania Winstona i Julii Orwell zawarł coś przedziwnego. Otóż w tej scenie najpierw oskarżają się Winston i Julia, a dopiero po nich oskarża ich Głos. Nie jest to głos O'Briena. Można podejrzewać, że jest to głos Big Brothera. Zamieszczę poniżej same dialogii by to pokazać:

- Jesteśmy martwi - rzekł [Winston]. / ’We are the dead,’ he [Winston] said.
- Jesteśmy martwi - powtórzyła posłusznie Julia. / ’We are the dead,’ echoed Julia dutifully.

Po czym inny głos, cienki, kulturalny, który wydał się Winstonowi znajomy, dodał: - A skoro o tym mowa, coś wam chcę przypomnieć: „Oto ciastko, możesz zjeść połowę, a oto topór, który zetnie ci głowę!" / And then another quite different voice, a thin, cultivated voice which Winston had the impression of having heard before, struck in; ’And by the way, while we are on the subject, ”Here comes a candle to light you to bed, here comes a chopper to chop off your head”!’

Czyż nie jest więc tak, że to my sami jesteśmy dla siebie najgorszymi oskarżycielami? Czyż myśląc negatywnie nie jesteśmy autorami naszych życiowych porażek? To wielka sztuka odróżnić delikatny głos sumienia, głos Boga, od głosu samopotępienia, od głosu naszego ego. To ostatnie zdanie w oryginale jest o wiele lepsze: ”Here comes a candle to light you to bed, here comes a chopper to chop off your head”. Jeden głos oświeca twoje ciemności byś mógł spać spokojnie, a drugi głos odcina ci głowę, przerywa więź pomiędzy umysłem a "sercem". (Oczywiście głos sumienia to nie głos O'Briena, tylko ten w słuchawce "Telefonu".)
